The Seitan limania excursion starts from Chania. The monastery “Gouverneto” is one of the oldest monasteries in Crete, it was built in 1537. It looks like a castle with large towers, which should protect the monks from the invaders and the pirates. Outside the monastery we see a strong Venetian influence. The church is the main church of the monastery which was dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and therefore carries the nickname “Lady of the Angels“. A paved road north of Gouverneto Monastery leads in the Avlaki Gorge, and ends  into the Aegen Sea.

Seitan Limania is, although hard to believe, just 20 km from the center of Chania. The beach has various names, like “From Stephen”, “Rizoskloko”, Seitan Limania which means the devil’s port. However, we do not have much to say except that the beach is a little paradise.
